INSIDE LINDA VISTA:OUR COTTAGE‑CORE TAKE ON A SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA CLASSIC

Welcome to Linda Vista— a home where sunlight, stone, and story meet. Nestled in the hills of Orange County, this project began as a simple design inquiry and became a full-fledged homage to English countryside charm. Our client’s vision? To create a space that felt like a Cotswolds daydream, grounded in function, but elevated by texture, tone, and timelessness.

From the start, we knew this wasn’t just going to be a renovation. It was a reimagining.

Soft Light, Strong Vision

The heart of the home—the kitchen—was built to glow. Sunlight spills across creamy plaster walls and classic Carrara countertops, highlighting the natural patina of salvaged beams and cobblestone textures. Every material was selected not just for beauty, but for its ability to tell a story over time. The client, a passionate home cook, wanted the space to feel equally fit for quiet mornings and celebratory feasts.

So we gave her a deep cast iron farmhouse sink. A DeVol brass bridge faucet that will tarnish in all the right ways. And bifold windows that open wide to welcome the ocean air and a table full of friends.

The English Cottage, Interpreted

Rather than replicate a traditional English cottage, we translated its spirit. In the kitchen, tongue-and-groove millwork adds depth, while a soft palette of whites and creams keeps the space grounded. A classic checkerboard tile underfoot adds just the right amount of whimsy.

This isn’t just style—it’s story-driven design. Our client’s love for the Cotswolds was the north star, but we made sure the space honored its Southern California roots too. Think stone walls meet sea breezeOld World meets fresh produceStorybook charm meets streamlined living.

Design Details That Do the Talking

There’s something about natural materials that feel honest. We leaned into that honesty—layering antique wood, unlacquered brass, and handmade tile. Nothing precious, but everything purposeful.

The palette throughout the home is intentionally tight, giving each room a sense of cohesion without sameness. Warm neutrals, textural accents, and vintage pieces bring in the soul. We believe good design whispers—it doesn’t shout. And Linda Vista speaks in that exact tone.

Built to Be Lived In

At The Warren, we build homes that feel like the people who live in them. Linda Vista reflects a woman who values simplicity but doesn’t shy from sentimentality. Who cooks barefoot. Who reads with the windows open. Who treasures a good antique find but lives fully in the present.

This home holds stories old and new. And we’re honored to have helped bring it to life.
